Lesson 12: John’s Letter to the Chosen Lady

The relationship between truth and love seems to be something most of us miss in practice.  When you really think about it though, can you have one without the other?  Can you be a doctrine-abiding Christian SDA without love?  Can you love without knowing the truth?

Assume it’s possible to know truth and not love and/or vice versa, that it’s possible to love without knowing truth.  John’s letter to the chosen lady would make little sense, “Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.”

I’ve said it before, to know God is to know Truth and to know Truth is to know God.  It sounds quite similar to the message in this clip that I’ve been playing over and over again lately.  Check it out and let’s not leave the message of being loved and loving in Quarter 3.  Let’s return doctrine and love to an indivisible packaged deal.
