Happy Holidays!!

So now that Thanksgiving has nationally come and gone, let’s not forget the spirit of the holiday season and the opportunity we as Christians have to influence those around us who are generally more open and receptive to the gospel at this time.  It’s a season of change and community.  Somewhere amidst the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, people ponder what is truly important in this life.  Of course many come to church, and don’t make it back until next December…but God touches people in a life changing way through the sense of communal support our churches offer during this time and all throughout the year.

While there are many views on how Adventists should approach this season, let’s not mute the message in the greeting “Happy Holidays”.  Because it’s not about when we celebrate it or whether you were out on the rooftop hanging the Star of David just hours after Thanksgiving.  It’s about the happiness our salvation brings.  The communal vibe is an aroma  enticing enough to draw those who’ve strayed away back home, and satisfying enough to feed the hungriest of lost souls.  I’m just saying, if the name Adventist becomes synonymous with the Grinch who stole Christmas, we are going to have a lot of problems reaping His harvest.
