Adventists + Dating // Redux

Over the past week, we have explored many different viewpoints on the dating question.  Specifically, we’ve looked at it through the prism of Adventism. It is our hope that the viewpoints expressed in these articles have sparked meaningful conversation that won’t end here.

As Adventists, we cherish our beliefs, our church structure, our heritage, and yes, our counsels.  However, and this came up time and time again, we are to cherish our Lord first.  We cannot be lights or beacons to the world with any sort of inherent flame.  No, the glow we have can come from only one source – Jesus Christ.  So, as we continue to think about our lives as Christians and, uniquely, as Seventh-Day Adventists, let’s also remember that a label won’t save anyone. How can we encourage one another and in what ways can we sort out the false from the truth of the everlasting gospel?

It’s evident that the choice of a life partner is probably one of, if not THE most important choices we will ever make.  The question should always be: “Do I trust Christ to lead and guide me in everything? Can I wait on His plan?” As intelligent SDA YAs, let’s continue to approach these topics with open minds and searching hearts.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to read and participate.  The discussion wouldn’t be valid without you! Continue to check back with this blog for future discussions on relevant topics.

    Proverbs 3:5-6 says

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. We need to trust him to find the best life partner for us. He knows who will make us happy and he knows us better than we know ourselves. We need to pray on these things.
